This isn't an awful game, but it's not that special whatsoever.

This is why I recommend anyone who hasn't played this to not even bother, as, while this may be the best Mario edutainment game, it doesn't do much in terms of teaching kids to type that well, and for as little fun there is here, there are countless other Mario games that are at least 500 times funner than this will ever be. Mix that with the poorly executed typing levels, and what you've got here is a game that may be fun for a little while, but will end up stupid and pointless at the end of the day. There are bits of the game where you will type in words in blank spaces in long paragraphs, which, I guess, could be beneficial to a kids ability to type, but, at the same time, this suffers from something pretty dire, and that is, of course, the lack of any fun factor whatsoever, as this part is always boring and never engaging. It's a good idea on paper, but the execution is, unfortunately, not that good. This is because, in some cases, they'll just try to beat the level instead of actually retaining the typing practices, causing the typing part to sort of just go over their head. The levels in this game are extremely basic and linear, and the typing, while implemented decently, doesn't really work that well in terms of actually teaching kids to type. This, unfortunately, is where this game sort of falls apart.

The gameplay, for what it is, is fine, as it has the clever idea of having the player play through levels by typing out words and sentences perfectly to advance. This, however, actually feels like it's own game, and it's all the better for it. I applaud this game for using it's own visual style to distinguish it from the main Mario games, because this doesn't deceive people like games like "Mario Is Missing" or "Mario's Time Machine", which both look similar to Super Mario World and are just awful in about every way. The presentation, for it not being a Nintendo game, is charming and good, as the visuals are decent, and the music, while not great, fits well enough with this game.

This game both succeeds and fails hard at this, but before that, I want to go through the pros. This, as the title suggests, is a typing game, with it's sole purpose being to teach kids how to type. It's not awful, like pretty much every other Mario edutainment game, but it's way too basic and flawed to really be worthwhile. Out of all of the Mario edutainment games, it's sort of sad that this is the best, as even with this, it's hard to really recommend as a whole.
